Overview

Rvastine 5mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Rosuvastatin. It belongs to a class of medications known as statins, which are used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood. Rosuvastatin works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver that plays a key role in the production of cholesterol.

Uses

  • Lowering cholesterol: Rvastine Tablet is prescribed to reduce elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol), triglycerides, and to increase HDL cholesterol (“good” cholesterol) in the blood.
  • Cardiovascular health: By lowering cholesterol levels, Rosuvastatin helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and coronary artery disease.
  • Prevention of atherosclerosis: Rosuvastatin may also be used to slow down or prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries (atherosclerosis), which can lead to narrowing and blockages.

Side Effects

  • Common side effects of Rvastine Tablet may include:
    • Headache
    • Muscle pain or weakness
    • Abdominal pain
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Serious but rare side effects may include liver problems, muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis), or an increased risk of diabetes.

Precautions

  • Take Rvastine Tablet as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily with or without food.
  • Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially liver or kidney disease, diabetes, or thyroid disorders.
  • Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking, as some drugs may interact with Rosuvastatin, increasing the risk of side effects.
  • Report any unexplained muscle pain, weakness, or tenderness to your doctor promptly, as these may be signs of a rare but serious side effect called rhabdomyolysis.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Rvastine Tablet, as it may increase the risk of liver problems.

When Not to Use

Avoid using Rvastine Tablet if:

  • You have a known allergy to Rosuvastatin or any other ingredients in the tablet.
  • You have active liver disease or unexplained increases in liver enzymes.
