Uses

  • Zolbi 20mg Capsule is indicated for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition characterized by the backward flow of stomach acid into the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.
  • It is also used to heal and prevent peptic ulcers (ulcers in the stomach or duodenum) caused by Helicobacter pylori infection or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • Omeprazole may be prescribed for the long-term management of conditions associated with excessive stomach acid production, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

How It Works

  • Omeprazole works by irreversibly inhibiting the enzyme H+/K+ ATPase (proton pump) in the gastric parietal cells, thereby blocking the final step of acid production in the stomach.
