MEBEVERINE
Mebeverine relaxes the muscle of the gut to ease cramping and spasm. It is used mainly for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
What Mebeverine Is Used For
- Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Stomach cramps and spasm
- Painful bloating linked to gut spasm
Common Side Effects
- Generally well tolerated
- Occasional heartburn
- Mild constipation
Precautions
Mebeverine is usually taken before meals. It eases the cramping of IBS but does not cure the condition, so it works best alongside attention to diet and triggers. See a doctor about any change in bowel habit, weight loss or bleeding, which need proper assessment.
