Overview

Ciproquine 250mg Tablet contains Ciprofloxacin as its active ingredient. Ciprofloxacin belongs to a class of antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacteria.

Uses

  • Bacterial infections: Ciproquine Tablet is prescribed for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, and bone and joint infections.
  • Anthrax exposure: In some cases, Ciprofloxacin may be used as a preventive measure or treatment for anthrax exposure.
  • Traveler’s diarrhea: It is sometimes prescribed to prevent or treat traveler’s diarrhea caused by certain bacteria.

Side Effects

  • Common side effects of Ciprofloxacin may include:
    • Nausea
    • Diarrhea
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Rash
  • Serious side effects are rare but may include tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, allergic reactions, and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.

Precautions

  • Inform your healthcare provider about any allergies to Ciprofloxacin or other antibiotics before taking Ciproquine Tablet.
  • Take the medication exactly as prescribed and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better before the medication is finished.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or tanning beds while taking Ciprofloxacin, as it may increase the risk of sunburn.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of tendon disorders, seizures, myasthenia gravis, or other medical conditions before taking this medication.
  • Drink plenty of fluids while taking Ciprofloxacin to prevent dehydration.

When Not to Use

Do not use Ciproquine Tablet if:

  • You have a known allergy to Ciprofloxacin or any other fluoroquinolone antibiotics.
  • You have a history of tendon disorders associated with fluoroquinolone use.
  • Your healthcare provider has advised against its use due to certain medical conditions or interactions with other medications you may be taking.
