Platixa 2.5mg Tablet contains the active ingredient Apixaban, which is classified as an anticoagulant or blood thinner. It is prescribed to prevent blood clots in individuals with certain medical conditions.

Active Ingredient:

• Apixaban: An oral anticoagulant that works by inhibiting Factor Xa, a key enzyme involved in the blood clotting process. By blocking Factor Xa, apixaban prevents the formation of blood clots.

Uses:

Platixa 2.5mg Tablet is primarily used for the following conditions:

• Prevention of Stroke and Systemic Embolism: In patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation, to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism.
• Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE): In patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery, to reduce the risk of DVT and PE.

Mechanism of Action:

Apixaban inhibits the activity of Factor Xa, a pivotal enzyme in the coagulation cascade. By blocking Factor Xa, apixaban interferes with the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and the subsequent formation of fibrin, thus preventing the formation of blood clots.

Administration:

Take Platixa 2.5mg Tablet orally, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. Follow the prescribed dosage and duration of treatment.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Platixa 2.5mg Tablet may include bleeding, bruising, nausea, and anemia. Contact your healthcare provider promptly if you experience any signs of bleeding, such as unusual bleeding from the gums, nosebleeds, or black, tarry stools.
