CO-TRIMOXAZOLE
Co-trimoxazole combines two antibiotics (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim). It is used for certain infections and to prevent some infections in at-risk people.
What Co-Trimoxazole Is Used For
- Urinary tract infections
- Certain chest infections
- Preventing specific infections in people with low immunity
Common Side Effects
- Nausea
- Skin rash
- Loose motions
Precautions
Drink plenty of water while taking co-trimoxazole. Tell your doctor straight away about any rash, as serious skin reactions can rarely occur. It is generally avoided late in pregnancy and in young babies. Finish the full course as prescribed.
