Septran Tablets Ds is mainly prescribed for treating urinary, chest and certain other bacterial infections. Your doctor may also recommend it for related conditions, but you should use it only for the purpose it was prescribed.
Used correctly, it clears a range of bacterial infections when the full course is taken.
The active ingredient is Co-Trimoxazole. It combines two agents that block the bacteria’s folate pathway. This targeted action is what makes it effective for its approved uses.
Always take it exactly as your doctor prescribes. The right amount depends on your age, condition and response, so never increase, reduce or stop it on your own. If you are unsure, check the leaflet or ask your pharmacist.
Like all medicines, it may cause side effects in some people, such as nausea, rash or stomach upset. These are often mild and settle on their own, but seek medical advice if any are severe or persistent.
