ESCITALOPRAM
Escitalopram is an antidepressant from the SSRI group. It is prescribed for depression and anxiety, and is usually taken once a day. It works gradually, so the full benefit builds up over several weeks.

- Generalised anxiety disorder
- Panic attacks
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Common Side Effects
- Nausea, especially in the first days
- Headache and drowsiness
- Difficulty sleeping
- Reduced appetite
Precautions
Do not stop escitalopram suddenly, even when you feel better u2013 the dose is lowered slowly under a doctor’s guidance to avoid withdrawal effects. It may take three to four weeks before you notice a real change, so keep taking it. Tell your doctor if you feel unusually low or restless in the early weeks, and never combine it with another antidepressant without advice.
