NITAZOXANIDE
Nitazoxanide is an antiparasitic and antidiarrhoeal medicine. It is used for diarrhoea caused by certain parasites and protozoa.
What Nitazoxanide Is Used For
- Diarrhoea caused by Giardia and Cryptosporidium
- Some other parasitic gut infections
Common Side Effects
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Headache
- Yellow discolouration of urine (harmless)
Precautions
Take nitazoxanide with food. It turns the urine a yellowish colour, which is harmless. Finish the course as prescribed. See a doctor if diarrhoea is severe, bloody, or comes with high fever or signs of dehydration, which need proper assessment.
