Uses

Arysa 20mg Capsule is prescribed for several conditions, including:

  • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): A condition where stomach acid frequently flows back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus).
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A rare condition that causes the stomach to produce too much acid.
  • Peptic or Stomach Ulcers: Including those caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
  • Prevention of stomach ulcers associated with NSAID use, especially in patients at risk.
  • Treatment of duodenal ulcer disease.
  • Esophagitis: Inflammation that damages the esophagus, often due to acid reflux.

How It Works

Esomeprazole works by blocking the proton pump in the cells of the stomach lining. The proton pump is the final step for acid production in the stomach. By inhibiting this pump, esomeprazole decreases the stomach’s acidity, providing relief from the symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion, and allowing healing of ulcers and inflamed stomach lining.

Dosage and Administration

  • The dosage and length of treatment with Arysa 20mg Capsule depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s overall health.
  • It’s generally taken once a day, at least one hour before a meal.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew.
  • For patients who have difficulty swallowing, the capsule can be opened, and its contents can be mixed with water or apple sauce.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Stomach pain
  • Gas or bloating

Rare but serious side effects can occur, including vitamin B12 deficiency, magnesium deficiency, kidney problems, and an increased risk of bone fractures with long-term use.
