Description:

Crescor tablets contain rosuvastatin, which is a medication belonging to the class of drugs known as statins. Statins work by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which plays a key role in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. By reducing cholesterol production, rosuvastatin helps lower blood cholesterol levels.

Uses:

Crescor tablets are prescribed to manage high cholesterol levels in the blood. They are used to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (often referred to as “bad” cholesterol), triglycerides, and apolipoprotein B levels, while increasing HDL cholesterol (often referred to as “good” cholesterol) levels. Lowering cholesterol levels can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular events in patients at risk.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Crescor may include headache, muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, and diarrhea. Rare but serious side effects may include liver problems (manifested by yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or persistent abdominal pain), muscle problems (such as unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness), and allergic reactions.

Precautions:

Patients taking Crescor should undergo regular monitoring of liver function tests, as statins can rarely cause liver injury. It is important to avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Crescor, as it may increase the risk of liver problems. When Not to Use:
