Exotan 5/160mg Tablet is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients: Amlodipine & Valsartan. Amlodipine belongs to the class of calcium channel blockers, while Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). This combination tablet is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

Uses

Exotan 5/160mg Tablet is prescribed for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It works through two different mechanisms:

Patients should be monitored for signs of hypotension, such as dizziness or lightheadedness.
  • Renal impairment: Dosage adjustments may be necessary in patients with impaired kidney function to avoid excessive accumulation of the medications or their metabolites.
  • Hyperkalemia: Valsartan may cause an increase in potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia), particularly in patients with kidney problems or those taking potassium-sparing diuretics. Potassium levels should be monitored regularly in these patients.
