Overview
Nicoget 20mg tablet contains Nicorandil (20mg). It comes as a tablet. The pack contains 418 tablet.
Nicorandil widens both the arteries and the veins, which reduces the work the heart has to do and improves blood flow through the coronary arteries. It is used to prevent angina rather than to stop an attack that has already started.
Uses of Nicoget 20mg tablet
Nicoget 20mg tablet is used for:
- Preventing angina chest pain
- Angina that continues despite other medicines
- Patients who cannot tolerate beta blockers or calcium channel blockers
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Nicoget 20mg tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:
- Headache, common in the first days and usually settling
- Flushing and dizziness
- Nausea
- Mouth, anal or skin ulcers with longer use
Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.
Precautions
Report any painful ulcer in the mouth, on the skin or around the back passage, as these are a known effect and usually mean the medicine needs to be stopped under supervision. Nicorandil must never be combined with sildenafil or similar erectile dysfunction medicines, as blood pressure can drop dangerously. Keep your fast acting angina spray with you, since this is a preventive tablet.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to Use
Take Nicoget 20mg tablet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
