Oxaltie 100mg infusion contains Oxaliplatin (100mg). It comes as an injection. The pack contains 1 vial infusion.

Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy medicine given by drip in hospital.

Uses of Oxaltie 100mg infusion

Oxaltie 100mg infusion is used for:

  • Bowel (colorectal) cancer
  • Some other gut cancers, as decided by the cancer team

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Oxaltie 100mg infusion can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Tingling or numbness in hands and feet, often worse with cold
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Low blood counts

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

It is given only by a cancer team, with blood tests before each cycle. Avoid cold drinks and cold objects for a few days after treatment. Report fever, infection or worsening numbness.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Oxaltie 100mg infusion is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse, or by you only if you have been shown how to do it. Follow the instructions you were given and read the leaflet. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store as directed on the pack. Some injections need to be kept in a fridge, so check the label. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
