Tretinoin is a form of vitamin A. It speeds up the turnover of skin cells, loosening the plugs that block pores and preventing new blackheads and whiteheads from forming. It also encourages collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin, which helps to smooth fine lines over time.

Most people use this product without problems. Some may notice:

  • Dryness
  • Peeling or flaking
  • Redness

Precautions

  • Avoid strong sunlight and sunbeds, use a sunscreen, and do not use it if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
  • Do a small patch test first, and keep it away from the eyes, lips, inside of the nose and broken skin unless your doctor says otherwise.
  • Stop using it and see your doctor if you notice severe redness, swelling, blistering or a rash.
