Voltral Emul 2% Gel is a topical medication containing Diclofenac Sodium as its active ingredient. It belongs to the class of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and is used for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, sprains, strains, and sports injuries. The gel formulation allows for localized application to the affected area, providing targeted relief.
Diclofenac Sodium: Diclofenac Sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are substances in the body that contribute to inflammation, pain, and fever.
Voltral Emul 2% Gel is used for the temporary relief of:
Pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and other musculoskeletal conditions
Acute musculoskeletal injuries, such as sprains, strains, and sports injuries
Painful inflammatory conditions, such as tendonitis and bursitis
Mechanism of Action:
Diclofenac Sodium exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. By blocking prostaglandin production, diclofenac reduces inflammation, pain, and fever, providing symptomatic relief.
Apply a thin layer of Voltral Emul 2% Gel to the affected area and gently massage until absorbed, usually 3-4 times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. Wash hands after application, unless treating the hands. Avoid applying the gel to broken or irritated skin, mucous membranes, or eyes.
Common side effects of Voltral Emul 2% Gel may include:
Skin irritation (such as redness, itching, or rash) at the application site
Allergic reactions (rare)
Avoid using Voltral Emul 2% Gel on open wounds, cuts, or infected areas of the skin.
Do not apply bandages or dressings over the treated area unless instructed by a healthcare professional.
Consult a healthcare professional before using Voltral Emul 2% Gel if you have a history of allergic reactions to NSAIDs or other medications.
Use caution when applying the gel to sensitive areas of the skin, such as the face or genitals.
Voltral Emul 2% Gel is contraindicated in individuals with known allergies to Diclofenac Sodium or other NSAIDs. It should not be used in patients with a history of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Do not use in the last trimester of pregnancy.
