Zavedos 5mg injection contains Idarubicin (5mg). It comes as an injection. The pack contains 1 vial injection.

Idarubicin is an anthracycline chemotherapy medicine given in hospital.

Uses of Zavedos 5mg injection

Zavedos 5mg injection is used for:

  • Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML)
  • Some other leukaemias

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Zavedos 5mg injection can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Low blood counts and higher infection risk
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Hair loss
  • Red urine for a day or two

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

It is given only by a cancer team. Your heart will be checked, as it can affect the heart muscle. Report fever or infection at once and avoid pregnancy during treatment.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Zavedos 5mg injection is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse, or by you only if you have been shown how to do it. Follow the instructions you were given and read the leaflet. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Store as directed on the pack. Some injections need to be kept in a fridge, so check the label. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
