Tazobact 2gm/250mg injection is a combination medicine that contains Piperacillin and Tazobactam. It comes as an injection. The pack contains 1 vial injection.

This injection combines piperacillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, with tazobactam, which protects it from enzymes made by resistant bacteria. It is given in hospital.

Uses of Tazobact 2gm/250mg injection

Tazobact 2gm/250mg injection is used for:

  • Serious chest infections and pneumonia
  • Infections inside the abdomen
  • Complicated urinary tract and skin infections
  • Infections in people with low white blood cells

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Tazobact 2gm/250mg injection can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea
  • Skin rash
  • Pain where the injection is given

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.

Precautions

Do not use it if you are allergic to penicillin. Tell your doctor about kidney problems. Report severe or bloody diarrhoea straight away.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
