About this product

Overview

RESCURON INJECTION contains Rocuronium Bromide as its active ingredient. It is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent used to induce muscle relaxation during surgical procedures or mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit. Rocuronium Bromide acts by competitively binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, thereby blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles.

Uses

RESCURON INJECTION is indicated for the following:

  1. Muscle Relaxation: It is used to facilitate endotracheal intubation and provide skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery.
  2. Mechanical Ventilation: It can be used to facilitate mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit when intubation and sedation are necessary.

Mechanism of Action

Rocuronium Bromide acts as a competitive antagonist at the neuromuscular junction by binding to the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors on the postsynaptic membrane. This prevents the binding of acetylcholine released by the motor nerve endings, thereby inhibiting neuromuscular transmission and causing muscle relaxation.

Dosage and Administration

The dosage of RESCURON INJECTION varies depending on the patient’s age, weight, and clinical condition, as well as the type and duration of the procedure. It is administered intravenously by a trained healthcare professional. The onset and duration of action of Rocuronium Bromide depend on the dose and may be influenced by factors such as renal or hepatic function.

Precautions

  1. Hypersensitivity: Patients with known hypersensitivity to Rocuronium Bromide should not receive this medication.
  2. Cardiovascular Effects: Rocuronium Bromide may cause transient changes in heart rate and blood pressure. It should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases.
  3. Respiratory Effects: Respiratory depression or apnea may occur following administration of Rocuronium Bromide. Adequate ventilation should be ensured during and after administration until spontaneous respiration returns.

Side Effects

Common side effects of RESCURON INJECTION may include hypotension (low blood pressure), tachycardia (rapid heart rate), bradycardia (slow heart rate), bronchospasm, and allergic reactions. Respiratory depression and prolonged neuromuscular blockade are possible but rare adverse effects.

RESCURON INJECTION containing Rocuronium Bromide is a neuromuscular blocking agent used for muscle relaxation during surgery and mechanical ventilation. It acts by competitively blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles, leading to temporary paralysis.
