Overview

Biflor Sachet contains Lamufantrine. It comes as a sachet. The pack contains 10 pcs in a pack.

Lumefantrine is an antimalarial almost always paired with artemether. Artemether kills most of the parasites quickly, and lumefantrine, which stays in the body far longer, clears the remainder and prevents the infection returning.

Uses of Biflor Sachet

Biflor Sachet is used for:

  • Uncomplicated falciparum malaria
  • Mixed malaria infections
  • Treatment in areas with chloroquine resistance
  • Malaria in children, dosed by weight

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Biflor Sachet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Headache and dizziness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Palpitations

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

Absorption depends heavily on fat, so doses are taken with milk or a fatty meal, and poor absorption is a common reason treatment fails. Complete every dose in the course. Confirm malaria with a test before treating. Fever returning after treatment, confusion, drowsiness or inability to keep tablets down means urgent medical assessment.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Use Biflor Sachet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Mix the sachet as directed on the pack and take it straight away. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
