Uses

  1. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Dapxiga 5mg tablet is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps lower blood sugar levels by increasing the excretion of glucose through urine.

Side Effects

  1. Genital Infections: Dapagliflozin may increase the risk of genital infections, such as yeast infections in females and balanitis in males. Symptoms may include itching, redness, discharge, or pain in the genital area. Good hygiene practices and prompt medical attention are recommended if such infections occur.
  2. Urinary Tract Infections: Some individuals may experience urinary tract infections while taking Dapxiga 5mg tablet.   4. Hypoglycemia: When used in combination with other antidiabetic medications like insulin or sulfonylureas, Dapxiga 5mg tablet may increase the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). When Not to Use

  1. Type 1 Diabetes: Dapxiga 5mg tablet is not indicated for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus.
  2. Diabetic Ketoacidosis: Dapagliflozin should not be used in individuals with diabetic ketoacidosis, a potentially life-threatening condition characterized by high blood sugar and ketone production.
  3. Severe Renal Impairment or End-Stage Renal Disease: Dapxiga 5mg tablet is contraindicated in individuals with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease, as it may further deteriorate kidney function.
