Desmopressin is a synthetic form of vasopressin, the body's antidiuretic hormone. It reduces the amount of urine the kidneys make.

What Desmopressin 0.2 tablet Is Used For

Your doctor may prescribe Desmopressin 0.2 tablet for:

  • Bedwetting
  • Diabetes insipidus
  • Night-time urination
  • Some bleeding disorders

Side Effects of Desmopressin 0.2 tablet

Possible unwanted effects include:

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Stuffy or runny nose with the nasal spray
  • Swelling or weight gain from fluid retention

Before You Use Desmopressin 0.2 tablet

  • Limit how much you drink in the evening and overnight as your doctor advises, to reduce the risk of water overload.
  • Stop taking it if you have vomiting, diarrhoea or a fever until you have spoken to your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart failure, kidney disease, low sodium or high blood pressure.
  • Some medicines, including anti-inflammatory painkillers and certain antidepressants, increase the risk of low sodium.
  • Older adults need closer monitoring of sodium levels; discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with your doctor.

Storage

Keep the tablets or capsules in the original strip or bottle, below 30°C and away from moisture and sunlight. Keep out of the reach of children.
