Glimepiride belongs to the sulfonylurea group of diabetes medicines.

Uses of Glyper 2mg tablet

Glyper 2mg tablet is used for:

  • Type 2 diabetes in adults
  • Often combined with metformin when one medicine is not enough

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Glyper 2mg tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
  • Weight gain
  • Nausea or stomach discomfort

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

The main thing to watch for is low blood sugar. Do not skip or delay meals after taking your dose, and learn the warning signs: sweating, shakiness, hunger, confusion or a racing heart. Keep something sugary with you. Older adults and anyone with kidney or liver problems need closer monitoring.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Take Glyper 2mg tablet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
