Overview
Glitamap 30mg/2mg tablet is a combination medicine that contains Pioglitazone and Glimepiride. It comes as a tablet. The pack contains 14s tablet.
This medicine combines 2 diabetes medicines that work in different ways. Glimepiride is a sulfonylurea that prompts the pancreas to release more insulin; Pioglitazone is a glitazone that helps the body respond better to its own insulin.
Uses of Glitamap 30mg/2mg tablet
Glitamap 30mg/2mg tablet is used for:
- Type 2 diabetes in adults, with diet and exercise
- When one diabetes medicine alone does not control blood sugar
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Glitamap 30mg/2mg tablet can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:
- Low blood sugar (sweating, shaking, hunger)
- Weight gain
- Swelling of the ankles
Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.
Precautions
Learn the signs of low blood sugar and keep something sugary with you. It is not suitable for people with heart failure. Tell your doctor about sudden weight gain, breathlessness or swelling. Tell your doctor if you have or have had bladder cancer, or notice blood in your urine.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to Use
Take Glitamap 30mg/2mg tablet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
