Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for infections that need a broad-spectrum medicine. It is available as tablets and as an infusion for hospital use.

Uses of Hamflox 500mg capsule

Hamflox 500mg capsule is used for:

  • Chest infections, including pneumonia and bronchitis
  • Urinary tract and kidney infections
  • Sinus infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Hamflox 500mg capsule can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Nausea, diarrhoea or stomach upset
  • Headache and dizziness
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Uncommonly, pain or swelling in a tendon

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

Stop the medicine and contact your doctor straight away if you develop tendon pain, numbness or tingling. Antacids, iron and calcium supplements block levofloxacin from being absorbed, so keep a gap of at least two hours between them. This medicine is usually avoided in children and during pregnancy.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Take Hamflox 500mg capsule exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
