This combination vaccine protects against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis) and hepatitis B. Some versions also include polio and Hib.

  • Vaccination is usually postponed if the child has a high fever on the day, but a mild cold is not normally a reason to delay.
  • Mention any bleeding disorder or weakened immune system.
  • The vaccine must be stored in a refrigerator between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius and must never be frozen.

Storage

Store as directed on the carton, protected from light. Some injections need a fridge, so check the label. Never freeze unless the label says so, and keep out of the reach of children.
