About this product
Overview
Kuf-go Syrup contains Aminophylline + Ammonium Chloride + Diphenhydramine, a cough syrup combining a bronchodilator, an expectorant and an antihistamine. Made by Werrick Pharmaceuticals Pakistan Ltd, it is prescribed for cough, bronchitis, wheezy chest, allergic cough and chest congestion. Pack size: 120ml syrup.
Uses of Kuf-go Syrup
Kuf-go Syrup is a cough syrup used to relieve productive and allergic coughs, especially when there is chest tightness or wheezing. It is commonly used for coughs linked with bronchitis, colds, chest congestion and allergic conditions. It eases breathlessness, helps loosen and clear phlegm and calms a troublesome cough, which can also help with sleep at night.
How Kuf-go Syrup works
Aminophylline relaxes the muscles of the airways, opening them up to make breathing easier. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant that helps thin mucus so it can be coughed up more easily. Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that reduces allergic irritation and the urge to cough and also causes drowsiness.
Possible side effects
Kuf-go Syrup can cause some side effects, mostly linked to its antihistamine and bronchodilator content:
- Drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Restlessness or difficulty sleeping
- Fast heartbeat
- Headache
Seek urgent medical help if you develop a very fast or irregular heartbeat, persistent vomiting, fits (seizures), severe agitation or confusion, or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling or difficulty breathing.
Precautions and warnings
- Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm problems, epilepsy, a stomach ulcer, an overactive thyroid, liver disease, glaucoma or difficulty passing urine.
- Aminophylline interacts with several medicines, including ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, cimetidine and some epilepsy medicines, so tell your doctor about everything you take. Smoking also affects how it works.
- Kuf-go Syrup can cause marked drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected, and avoid alcohol and other sedating medicines.
- Do not give it to young children unless a doctor has advised it, and use it in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice.
- See a doctor if a cough lasts more than two to three weeks, or if you cough up blood or have high fever or severe breathlessness.
