Your doctor may prescribe Leucovorin 15 mg tablet for:

  • Methotrexate rescue
  • Folate deficiency
  • Megaloblastic anaemia
  • Bowel cancer (with fluorouracil)

Side Effects of Leucovorin 15 mg tablet

Not everyone gets side effects. Those reported include:

  • Allergic skin rash or itching
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea or mouth sores when given with fluorouracil

Get medical help straight away for signs of a serious reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or a severe rash.

Before You Use Leucovorin 15 mg tablet

  • The timing of treatment is set carefully by your doctor, especially after methotrexate, so follow the schedule exactly.
  • It must not be used to treat anaemia caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, as it can hide the problem while nerve damage continues.
  • Tell your doctor if you take medicines for epilepsy, as it may lower their levels.
  • Injections are given in hospital or clinic by trained staff.
  • Discuss pregnancy and breastfeeding with your doctor, particularly when it is part of chemotherapy.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C in the original pack. Do not use after the expiry date, and keep all medicines away from children.
