Metliptin 50/850mg Tablets is a combination medicine that contains Vildagliptin and Metformin. It comes as a tablet. The pack contains 28 tablets in a pack.

This medicine combines 2 diabetes medicines that work in different ways. Metformin lowers the amount of sugar the liver releases and helps the body use insulin; Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that helps the body release more insulin after meals.

Uses of Metliptin 50/850mg Tablets

Metliptin 50/850mg Tablets is used for:

  • Type 2 diabetes in adults, with diet and exercise
  • When one diabetes medicine alone does not control blood sugar

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Metliptin 50/850mg Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Nausea, diarrhoea or stomach upset, mostly at the start
  • Metallic taste
  • Headache

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.

Precautions

Your kidney function will be checked. It may need to be stopped for a short time before surgery or scans that use contrast dye. Avoid heavy drinking. Get help for severe, lasting tummy pain, which may be pancreatitis. Your liver function will be checked.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Take Metliptin 50/850mg Tablets exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
