Overview

Mexair 0.5mg injection contains Terbutaline (0.5mg). It comes as an injection. The pack contains 5 ampx1ml injection.

Terbutaline is a bronchodilator. It relaxes the muscles around the airways so that air can move in and out of the lungs more easily.

Uses of Mexair 0.5mg injection

Mexair 0.5mg injection is used for:

  • Asthma
  • Wheezing and tight chest from bronchitis or COPD
  • Breathing difficulty caused by narrowed airways

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Mexair 0.5mg injection can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Shaking of the hands (tremor)
  • Fast or pounding heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.

Precautions

Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, an overactive thyroid, high blood pressure or diabetes. Get urgent help if your breathing gets worse or your usual treatment stops working. High doses can lower potassium levels.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Storage

Store as directed on the pack. Some injections need to be kept in a fridge, so check the label. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
