TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients: Telmisartan and Amlodipine. Telmisartan belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), and Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). This combination medication is used to manage hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults when adequate blood pressure control is not achieved with monotherapy (using one medication alone).

Uses

TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet is prescribed for the following conditions:

  1. Hypertension: It is used to treat high blood pressure in patients when a combination of two antihypertensive drugs is necessary to achieve blood pressure control.

Side Effects

Like all medications, TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet may cause some side effects in certain individuals. Common side effects may include:

  2. Swelling (Edema): Amlodipine may cause fluid retention, leading to swelling in the ankles, feet, or hands.

  1. Allergy to Telmisartan, Amlodipine, or Other ARBs or CCBs: Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Telmisartan, Amlodipine, or other ARBs or CCBs should not use TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet.
  2. Pregnancy: This medication should not be used during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, as it may harm the developing fetus.
  3. Severe Liver Impairment: TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet should be used with caution or avoided in patients with severe liver impairment, as it may affect liver function.
  4. Severe Kidney Impairment: The use of TELARB PLUS 40/5mg Tablet should be avoided in patients with severe kidney impairment or end-stage renal disease.
  5. Combination with Aliskiren: This medication should not be used in combination with Aliskiren in patients with diabetes or kidney impairment.
