UBETRIL 24MG/26MG TABLET (Sacubitril & Valsartan) is a medication used to treat heart failure. It contains a combination of sacubitril, an angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI), and valsartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB).
Description:
- Sacubitril and valsartan work together to improve heart function and reduce symptoms of heart failure.
- Sacubitril blocks the action of neprilysin, an enzyme that breaks down beneficial natriuretic peptides. By blocking neprilysin, sacubitril increases the levels of these peptides, which helps the heart function better.
- Valsartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure. By blocking angiotensin II, valsartan relaxes blood vessels and reduces blood pressure.
Uses:
- To treat heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in adults.
- To reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and improve overall heart function.
Benefits:
- Improves heart function and reduces symptoms of heart failure.
- Reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure.
- Can be used in combination with other heart failure treatments for improved outcomes.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects include headache, cough, and diarrhea.
- Other side effects may include low blood pressure, angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), and kidney problems.
- Rarely, sacubitril-valsartan may cause serious allergic reactions, liver problems, or angina (chest pain).
When not to use:
- If you have severe liver problems.
