Valmo Plus 10/160/12.5mg Tablet is a combination medication containing three active ingredients: Amlodipine, Valsartan, & Hydrochlorothiazide. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) to address different aspects of blood pressure regulation.
Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels, thereby improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure.
Valsartan: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks the action of angiotensin II, a substance that constricts blood vessels, leading to decreased blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide: A thiazide diuretic that helps the body remove excess salt and water by increasing urine production, which also helps lower blood pressure.
Valmo Plus 10/160/12.5mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy.
Mechanism of Action:
Amlodipine inhibits calcium influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral vascular resistance.
Valsartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, resulting in vasodilation and decreased blood pressure.
Hydrochlorothiazide increases urinary sodium excretion, leading to decreased plasma volume and cardiac output, which in turn lowers blood pressure.
