Yaz Tablets is a combined oral contraceptive pill from Bayer Pharma (pvt.) Ltd. Its active ingredient is Ethinyl Estradiol.

Ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic oestrogen. It is combined with a progestogen in most combined oral contraceptive pills and in some hormone treatments.

What Yaz Tablets Is Used For

Your doctor may prescribe Yaz Tablets for:

  • Contraception
  • Acne
  • PMS

Side Effects of Yaz Tablets

Most people tolerate it well, but some may notice:

  • Breakthrough bleeding or spotting
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Breast tenderness
  • Mood changes
  • Changes in weight

Get medical help straight away for signs of a serious reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or a severe rash.

Before You Use Yaz Tablets

  • It is not suitable if you have had a blood clot, stroke or heart attack, have migraine with aura, or are over 35 and smoke.
  • Tell your doctor about high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney or adrenal problems, diabetes or a history of breast cancer.
  • Some medicines, including rifampicin, certain epilepsy drugs and St John’s wort, can stop the pill working; extra contraception may be needed.
  • Follow the leaflet carefully if you miss a pill or have vomiting or severe diarrhoea, as protection may be reduced.
  • Do not take Yaz Tablets if you are pregnant, and ask your doctor before using it while breastfeeding.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C in the original pack. Do not use after the expiry date, and keep all medicines away from children.
