Overview
Biovate 0.50% ointment contains Clobetasol (0.50%). It comes as an ointment. The pack contains 15gm ointment.
Clobetasol is a strong (potent) corticosteroid cream used for stubborn inflammatory skin conditions that milder steroids have not settled.
Uses of Biovate 0.50% ointment
Biovate 0.50% ointment is used for:
- Severe eczema and dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Other stubborn inflammatory skin conditions
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Biovate 0.50% ointment can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:
- Thinning of the skin with prolonged use
- Burning or stinging on application
- Skin colour changes
Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away.
Precautions
Clobetasol is a strong steroid, so use it only on the area and for the short time your doctor advised, and avoid the face unless specifically told. Do not use it for longer than directed, as overuse can damage the skin. Keep it away from the eyes.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
How to Use
Clean and dry the affected skin, then apply a thin layer as your doctor or pharmacist advised. Wash your hands afterwards unless your hands are being treated. For external use only. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
