Chlorpheniramine, which appears on some packs as chlorophenramine, is a first generation antihistamine. It blocks histamine to relieve allergy symptoms and also causes drowsiness, which is why it features in night time cold preparations.

Do not drive or drink alcohol until you know how it affects you. Older adults are more prone to confusion, falls and urinary retention with it, and non sedating antihistamines are usually a better choice for them. Check the labels of any other cold products you are taking so the same ingredient is not doubled up.

Take Coldene Tablets exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
