Overview

Provate-G ointment is a combination medicine that contains Betamethasone Dipropionate and Topicalgentamicin. It comes as an ointment. The pack contains 15 gm ointment.

This cream combines betamethasone, a strong steroid that reduces redness, swelling and itching, with gentamicin, an antibiotic for bacterial skin infection.

Uses of Provate-G ointment

Provate-G ointment is used for:

  • Eczema and dermatitis with a bacterial infection
  • Inflamed skin conditions that have become infected

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Provate-G ointment can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:

  • Burning or stinging where applied
  • Skin thinning with long use
  • Itching or redness

Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.

Precautions

For external use only. Use it only for the time advised, as long use of steroid creams can thin the skin. Do not use it on the face, on fungal or viral skin infections, or on large areas of broken skin unless your doctor tells you to.

Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How to Use

Clean and dry the affected skin, then apply a thin layer as your doctor or pharmacist advised. Wash your hands afterwards unless your hands are being treated. For external use only. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
