Overview
Sulbaxon 2gm injection is a combination medicine that contains Cefoperazone and Sulbactam. It comes as an injection. The pack contains 1 vial injection.
This injection combines cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, with sulbactam, which protects cefoperazone from enzymes that some resistant bacteria make. It is mostly used in hospital for serious infections.
Uses of Sulbaxon 2gm injection
Sulbaxon 2gm injection is used for:
- Chest and lung infections, including pneumonia
- Urinary tract and kidney infections
- Infections inside the abdomen and gynaecological infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Blood infections (septicaemia)
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Sulbaxon 2gm injection can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common ones include:
- Pain or swelling where the injection is given
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea
- Skin rash
Tell your doctor if a side effect is severe or does not go away, and get urgent help for signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, wheezing or a widespread rash.
Precautions
Tell your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Avoid alcohol during treatment and for a few days after it, because it can cause flushing, a fast heartbeat and sickness with alcohol. It can affect blood clotting, so your doctor may check this.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
