Overview

Viktana 400/100mg Tablet is a combination medication containing two active ingredients: Sofosbuvir & Velpatasvir. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide analog NS5B polymerase inhibitor, while Velpatasvir is a pangenotypic NS5A inhibitor. This medication is used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in adults. Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir work together to inhibit the replication of the hepatitis C virus, thereby reducing viral load and improving liver function.

Uses

  1. Chronic Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Infection: Viktana 400/100mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of chronic HCV infection in adults. It is effective against all six major genotypes of HCV and is suitable for patients with or without cirrhosis. Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir combination therapy helps to achieve sustained virologic response (SVR), which is associated with reduced liver inflammation, improved liver function, and decreased risk of liver-related complications.

Side Effects

While Viktana 400/100mg Tablet is generally well-tolerated, it may cause side effects in some individuals. Common side effects associated with Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir include:

  • Fatigue: Fatigue or weakness may occur during treatment with Viktana 400/100mg Tablet. Getting adequate rest and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help manage fatigue.
  • Headache: Headaches are frequently reported during treatment with Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. Over-the-counter pain relievers may help alleviate headache symptoms.
  • Nausea: Some patients may experience nausea while taking Viktana 400/100mg Tablet. Eating small, frequent meals and avoiding spicy or greasy foods may help reduce nausea.
  • Insomnia: Difficulty sleeping or insomnia may occur in some individuals. Establishing a regular sleep schedule and practicing relaxation techniques may improve sleep quality.

Precautions

  • Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Viktana 400/100mg Tablet should not be used during pregnancy due to the risk of fetal harm. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for a period after discontinuation of therapy. The safety of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir during breastfeeding is unknown.
