Taking metformin with food, and starting at a low dose, makes the stomach side effects much easier to tolerate. Your doctor will check kidney function periodically. Metformin is usually stopped for a short period before scans that use contrast dye and before major surgery. Long-term use can lower vitamin B12.
Tell your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you take, any allergies, and if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Take Xormet 1gm tablet exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Swallow it with a glass of water. Do not change the dose or stop taking it on your own. Read the leaflet inside the pack before you start.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, as directed on the pack. Keep out of the reach of children and do not use after the expiry date.
