Overview
Diajard MXR 5/1000mg tablet contains Empagliflozin (5mg) and Metformin (1000mg). It is used to control blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Uses
- Type 2 Diabetes Control: It lowers blood glucose when diet and exercise alone are not enough.
- Dual Action: Metformin reduces glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, while empagliflozin removes excess sugar through the urine.
Side Effects
Common side effects include urinary or genital infections, increased urination, nausea, diarrhoea, or a metallic taste. Low blood sugar is possible with other diabetes medicines.
When Not to Use
- Severe Kidney Impairment: Do not use if kidney function is significantly reduced.
- Type 1 Diabetes or Ketoacidosis: Not suitable for these conditions.
- Hypersensitivity: Avoid if allergic to either ingredient.
Take with food as prescribed, stay well hydrated, and monitor blood sugar. Tell your doctor before surgery or if you become unwell or dehydrated.
