Loteprednol is a corticosteroid eye drop designed to break down quickly once it has acted, which lowers the risk of raising eye pressure compared with older steroid drops. It settles inflammation on the surface and front of the eye.

Side Effects of Lotenol Forte Drops

Possible unwanted effects include:

  • Blurred vision just after use
  • Burning or stinging
  • Dry or watery eyes
  • Itching
  • Feeling that something is in the eye

Get medical help straight away for signs of a serious reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing or a severe rash.

Before You Use Lotenol Forte Drops

  • Do not touch the dropper tip to the eye or any surface, to keep the drops free from germs.
  • Remove contact lenses before use and wait before putting them back in, unless your eye doctor advises otherwise.
  • Using steroid eye drops for a long time can raise eye pressure, cause cataracts or hide an infection, so your eye pressure may need checking.
  • Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma or a viral or fungal eye infection such as herpes, as steroids can make these worse.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use Lotenol Forte Drops only after speaking to your doctor.

Storage

Store below 30°C with the cap on. Note the date you open it, because drops and sprays should be discarded after the in-use period on the label. Keep away from children.
